Choose a global threat (eg: global warming, carona, political warfare) that currently impacts today’s society and design an ad campaign that illustrates the severity of the threat.

A satirical visual on a middle-aged couple, exploring the exaggerated reaction of the husband in response to the COVID-19 crisis whose response entails the hoarding purchasing of toilet rolls and essential resources. Then SockMo (Scott Morrision) gives his stance on the excessive spenders.

At the time of this brief, the issue of hoarding essential supplies was the current crisis at hand. Thus it felt therapeutic amongst us to make a lighthearted joke out of the situation whilst serving as a wake-up call to those who buy too much and don’t leave enough for less fortunate or larger families. Our team decided on a government public service announcement (PSA) parody exposing the stupidity of hoarders buying excess toilet paper during this crisis. My easter egg in the ad was illustrating a parody of the coat of arms that usually is placed at the end of government PSAs. The kangaroo and emu are wearing socks to give a nod to the sock puppetry implemented in our animation. The kangaroo wears a mask to signify the safety precautions of covid. Finally the coat of arms shield has a hand sanitiser and a toilet paper symbol to symbolize the two main resources that have been purchased in excess, and also a pair of socks.
